New HKUST Study Reveals Key Insights
As Hong Kong endeavors to become a leading center for green and sustainable finance, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology will conduct a study from November 2024 to July 2025. The study surveyed over 4,000 respondents aged 18 to 25 about their views on career prospects in this field and provided suggestions. The study found that nearly 74% of the respondents had heard of green and sustainable finance, but only about one-third had an in-depth understanding; over 60% were interested, and nearly two-thirds were considering getting involved in this field, with the motivation stemming from personal interests and environmental concerns. The shortage in knowledge and skills is a key challenge. Among those not interested, 45.5% said insufficient understanding, and 33.6% said a lack of skills and experience. In terms of training, there is an obvious demand for financial support, and promotion and publicity need to be strengthened. Nearly 89% wanted to avail themselves of support programs, but only 53.7% were aware of them. Men had a higher level of awareness and participation than women.
