Come with an empty cup and return with a cup full of gains —— The freshmen of EMPAcc Class 21 have started to enroll!

22 Aug 2020

At 1:30 p.m. on August 20, the orientation for freshmen of the 21st batch of the EMPAcc program co-sponsored by Shanghai National Accounting Institute and The Chinese University of Hong Kong was held in Classroom M6 of the Third Teaching Building of our institute. Professor Lu Wenbin, the vice president of Shanghai National Accounting Institute and the Shanghai director of the EMPAcc program, attended this orientation activity and gave the first class for the freshmen. Deputy Director Tian Bei, the person in charge of the cooperation project department at Shanghai National Accounting Institute, gave an important speech. All the freshmen of the 21st batch, both online and offline, participated in this orientation activity. Li Yan, the director of the EMPAcc project office, presided over the event.

Dean Lu first offered warm congratulations on the smooth enrollment of the freshmen of the 21st batch and introduced the history and philosophy of running the EMPAcc program. From the beautiful vision when the institute was established to the increasing enrollment scale and improving teaching quality today, Dean Lu“s vivid description of the nearly 20-year development history of our institute inspired a strong sense of admiration and pride among the freshmen present for Shanghai National Accounting Institute.

Regarding how to study in the next two years after enrollment, Dean Lu put forward three levels of learning suggestions to the freshmen present. The first level is to listen to what the teacher says. Dean Lu analyzed that although this method is commonly used, the effect is not the best. The second level is to speak by oneself. One will gain more in the process of sharing ideas, views, and solutions with others. The third level is to conduct research. In in-depth thinking and research, one“s knowledge will be condensed and greatly improved. At the same time, Dean Lu emphasized that “knowing one“s own ignorance is the beginning of wisdom“, hoping that the freshmen of the 21st batch can come to the institute for study with an empty-cup mentality and a humble attitude, enrich their theoretical knowledge, and grasp the correct direction of decision-making.

Subsequently, Teacher Dai Qianyi from The Chinese University of Hong Kong introduced CUHK, and the students were full of expectations for the residential study weeks at CUHK in the future. Deputy Director Tian Bei of the cooperation project department at Shanghai National Accounting Institute and Head Teacher Liu Yang of the EMPAcc program introduced the EMPAcc program in detail, emphasizing the assessment mechanism and precautions after enrollment. Among them, Director Tian Bei expected the freshmen to be “gentle and cultivated, and then be a gentleman“, hoping that our freshmen of the 21st batch can not only achieve academic success in the two-year study, but also possess appropriate temperament and etiquette.

The freshmen ice-breaking and expansion activity, presided over by Yao Fan, an expansion training instructor at our institute, followed. Everyone got along well forming teams, creating team names, selecting team songs, and designing team emblems. Finally, Teacher Yao summarized the expansion results of the day with a short poem “Set sail in 2021, let the learning and career soar like a rocket. Someday we will ride the wind and break the waves, and be good young people with everything going well“.

The 21st batch of EMPAcc freshmen enrolled this time come from 18 different provinces and cities across the country. 62% of the participants are corporate executives or CFOs, and the rest are senior company managers. The average work experience is 17 years, and nearly half of the participants hold professional qualifications such as CPA/ACCA/CIMA. The EMPAcc program was established in 2002 and is committed to cultivating CFOs of international first-class standards for the development of the Chinese economy. After 18 years of accumulation and development, the program has trained more than 1,300 senior financial and accounting management personnel. They are active in various industries and have made great contributions to the takeoff of the Chinese economy.

I cherish the encounter with you and offer my sincere heart. I cherish the opportunity to join hands with you and embrace mutual trust. In the next two years, let“s ride the wind and break the waves and return with full achievements!

A strong alliance, a highly valuable master“s degree without entrance exams, and Chinese-language teaching
